Why is Kaiser refusing an ultrasound?
I live in Riverside County and have been going through it with Kaiser, being passed around from orthopedic surgeons, to neurosurgeons and nobody seems to be able to help me. My biggest complaint is about my right hand. My thenar eminence, and 1st dorsal interosseous are insanely swollen, cause loss of dexterity in my thumb and first 2 fingers, as well as numbness, with the inability to relax my hand without it feeling as is my hand is going to spasm. My wrist on the same side is also very unstable, and clicks, pops, etc., and I don’t mean crepitus, I mean it literally feels like bones jump from ulnar deviation, on my thumb side. This has been doing on since 2023. I’ve had multiple MRI scans ordered, and failed them all because of the inability to rest my hand without involuntary spasms, which are extremely painful, and have requested an ultrasound time and time again. I actually think an ultrasound would be the better scan because my muscles, nerves, and abnormal movement can all be seen, unlike the static image that is an mri, but you’d think I’m asking for free insurance the way nobody even considers it. I am not an unreasonable patient, and try to let people do their jobs. Everyone blames it on standard care policies, but I think I’ve more than proven to be a special case, so why keep forcing me to waste money?
