The prep journey begins
I live in WV and my area has started to get worse for outages as we are in the cross hairs of two lines of outages nowadays and we tend to get fixed later than normal.
My worse time was 2 yrs ago when a winter storm knocked my power out for a week. Most years we just endured it but that winter storm was my breaking point.
So the prep begins.... Good thing is most do have a decent start on their needs.
Part of current prep
Gas generator that I have had for several years.
Multiple flashlights of various sizes n needs
Kerosene heater and electric heaters
Anker DC300 and Anker 521 for games n phones use
Multiple coolers
A snow stick (lol it is to help gutters from getting too much snow and hopefully clear of ice buildup)
I will say sometimes you get creative during a Storm.
One thing we did do is to make like 3 solar light "tree" (see pic) where we use them as lights for the sidewalks but ended up being part of our storm prep by using all the solar lights in the house to light up the house at night and then replace them in the morning to recharge.
My current future plans is to work toward an upper Anker Solix to at least at a minimum can be used to keep the fridge running for a few days and maybe run a few appliances/tv without being dependent on a gas generator.
Did not think of solar as location has limited direct sunlight although recent neighbors tree harvesting may change this thinking.
