Not in PE myself. I’m working on tooling for analyst workflows and trying to figure out where the real pain is before I build the wrong thing.

From the outside, the usual suspects seem to be teaser triage, pulling data out of CIMs, and chasing portcos for monthly reporting. But “obvious from the outside” and “actually the worst part of your week” are usually different things, so I’d rather hear it from people doing the job.

A few things I’m trying to understand:

What’s the task you’d delete from your week if you could?

Where do you lose time to formatting, copying, or reformatting work that’s already done?

Has your firm rolled out any AI tools that actually get used past the first month? Or is it mostly pilots that quietly die?

Anything you’ve cobbled together yourself (Excel macros, GPT prompts, scripts) that you’d be embarrassed to show your MD but actually saves you hours?

Happy to share back what I learn. Open to DMs too if you’d rather not post publicly.
