Main teacher made a survey about me and gave it to the students.
This is my third month working as a 5th grade TA at a school (previous TA had to leave towards the end of the year for personal reasons so I took over). I am in my mid twenties and a female that has never worked in a teaching position. Anyways, kids are often disrespecting me, putting disgusted faces when I walk near them, making fun of my instructions, talking to me in a very threatening and disrespectful manner, ignoring what I say or my instructions and challenging my instructions as simple as lining up properly to transition to different classes. I asked the main teacher to help me talk to them and remind them that I am also an authority figure and that they must respect me. We agreed she was going to do a morning meeting the next day with them. Fast forward the next day she told the students something along the lines of "we want you to listen to us as much as we want to listen to you" and "the Ms has been of help to you guys". After saying that she proceeded to tell the students to do an anonymous unfiltered survey regarding my performance (what can the miss do better and what is she doing well). This hit me like a tone of bricks because I was not willing or consented to this and it wasn't what we discussed. Reading it was not fun as some kids wrote mean things. Now the kids are more disrespectful to me and think that my voice does not matter.
I talked to the admin and was told to talk to the teacher. I already sent her an email regarding the survey and how it affected me and she seemed "receptive". It is worth mentioning that this teacher tends to respond annoyingly to my presence, disregards my authority in front of the kids, does not include me in a lot of classroom decisions, answers anything I say or ask with a mean tone (has also raised her voice at me in front of the kids) and tends to side with the kids. I feel very anxious coming to work everyday. Admin told me to talk to her in person about everything but I worry it will damage my relationship with her more as there is only one month left to the year and she will probably give me negative feedback.
