Hey there!

Moving into a new apartment in a few weeks and trying to figure out the best projector placement before drilling anything (will be my first projector ! - I don't have a lot of knowledge). The living/dining room is an open-plan space — 4m wide × 7.8m long (13.1 × 25.6 ft).

I've been going back and forth between two options:

Option A — Right wall mount

The projector sits against the right wall and throws across the ~4m width of the room toward the opposite wall. Throw distance is short, which limits screen size unless I go with a UST. The projector is somewhat out of the way but it's a shorter throw.

Option B — Ceiling mount, center of the room

Mounted in the middle of the ceiling, throwing toward one of the end walls. Longer throw distance (~3.9m to the screen wall), which means more flexibility for screen size. But it's physically in the center of the room, which feels a bit awkward, and cable management through the ceiling would be more involved.

I've attached a floor plan with both throws marked, plus 3D renders of each option so you can see how the room is laid out.

My current setup: Samsung The Serif + Samsung Arc soundbar — I'm open to replacing them entirely if a projector setup makes more sense.

Projector I'm leaning toward: XGIMI Horizon 20, but I'm not set on it.

Budget: ~€4,000 all-in (projector + screen if needed + sound if I need to change + mount/install). Open to any setup that makes the most sense for this room and budget.

Do you have any strong preference for aesthetics/practicality between the two? (Open to completely different approaches if you think there's a better solution!)

Thanks in advance!
