Privacy breach at hospital
For about 4 years my child was in and out of hospital for some pretty serious mental health issues. They were 12-16 years of age at the time. We got a letter from the hospital that someone had accessed their health information on three different dates. The person accessed doctors notes, nursing notes, psychiatrist notes, diagnoses, test results, medications, and more. Basically everything. The letter also stated that this person was not within my child's personal care team and the manner in which the information was obtained was against hospital policy. Now, here's the kicker....I used to work at this hospital and I know many people that work there. I have the feeling that the person that did this is someone I used to work with. When we first got the letter we were very stressed dealing with it all and I didn't follow up or persue anything. But now, two years later, my child is thriving and I'm getting more angry that someone violated my child's privacy like this. Possibly sharing information with people I used to work with. I'm mortified. Is it too late to follow up?
