Hey everyone. Recently I have been having behavioral issues with my 5 y/o cat Autumn. She has always been a bit high strung, but these past few weeks are completely out of the ordinary for her. At night she scratches for hours at my walls and door, to the point where my room is now practically covered in blankets just so I can get some semblance of sleep for the night. She used to cuddle and sleep with me entirely throughout the night (or at least go to bed with me). I have tried buying more furniture and toys for her, and being sure to play with her before bed. I have tried ignoring her when she scratches as to not encourage attention seeking behavior. I have tried literally picking her up and giving her attention. Her schedule is consistent and nearly the same every night in terms of dinner, play, and bed time.
The only other time that I have ever seen her act this way ended up being fleas. Liquid treatments never seemed to work, so getting a collar instantly fixed the issue. I guess they were just driving her crazy.
I am beginning my freshman year of college in the fall and she is staying on campus with me, so I really need to figure out what is wrong soon. Any advice?
