Dating in 2026 is wild because people give you the most distant, guarded, emotionally unavailable version of themselves and still expect you to believe, “I’d be different if you were mine.”
Like… this is your BEST foot forward?
People want you to prove you’d make an amazing partner/spouse while offering crumbs in return. They want softness, loyalty, understanding, intimacy, support… meanwhile leaving you emotionally drained and feeling used in a way.
And the crazy part is even the GOOD ones get treated like they’re out here playing games. People are so used to protecting themselves from users, liars, gold diggers, cheaters, and manipulators that now everybody gets the guarded, low effort, emotionally detached version of each other.
And it’s really unattractive. Low effort is unattractive. Pretending you don’t want someone isn’t cool. Boooo lameeee. 😭
How are people supposed to genuinely connect under those conditions?
And then everybody acts confused as to why dating feels empty now. 💀
