Hi everyone, I’m trying to better understand the workflow of private piano teachers and students/parents.
For teachers, I’m curious: what is the hardest part of running your teaching studio?
Is it more about:
- finding new students
- showing your teaching style/background to potential students
- scheduling lessons
- tracking prepaid or remaining lesson counts
- communicating with students/parents
- assigning practice work or following up on practice
- keeping lesson notes organized
One thing I’ve been wondering about is whether lesson count transparency is actually useful. For example, if a teacher updates how many prepaid lessons a student has left, would it be helpful for the student/parent to see that too, so there’s less back-and-forth about “how many lessons do we have left?”
For students or parents, what would make it easier to find the right piano teacher or communicate with your current teacher?
I’m not trying to assume what teachers need — I’d really appreciate hearing what actually feels annoying or time-consuming in real teaching/studio management.
