Kouri Richins Speaks Out Before Being Sentenced to Life without Parole

On May 13, 2026, the judge sentenced Kouri Richins to life in prison without parole for killing her husband.

On March 16, 2026, Kouri was found guilty of poisoning her husband with fentanyl-laced cocktail on March 4, 2022.

The irony is that Kouri was sentenced on the day of Eric Richins' birthday. He would have been 44.

Before sentencing, Kouri read off a long, rattling letter of allocution about how she loves her 3 young sons and will write to them every day even if her letters are blocked. She added that she wished their father was here to teach & guide them throughout their lives. Not once did she take accountability for killing her husband.

In an emotional letter, Kouri's 3 sons said they never want to see their mother again and expressed absolute fear that she will try and harm them if released from prison, even when they grow up and are raising children of their own. They went on to say how much they love and miss their father, and how loved and protected they felt by him. They will always cherish the memories of their father who took them on camping and fishing trips, and to sporting events.

The judge was very deliberate and thoughtful in his final decision. He took into consideration not only the gravity of the crime Kouri committed but also the emotional grief and pain she has caused her 3 sons as well as the rest of Eric Richins' entire family.

As the sentence was delivered, Kouri, for the most part, kept her head down. Her lawyers will appeal her sentence, a right that every defendant has.

True Crime podcaster Matt Johnson, host of Justice with Matt Johnson, and former L.A. County prosecutor Joshua Ritter, host of Courtroom Confidential youtube channel, discuss singer D4vd (David Anthony Burke) shocking online orders in the murder of Celeste Rivas Hernandez.

In court documents, Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan J. Hochman, the prosecutor leading the case, lays out what allegedly occurred as shown below:

During an argument, Celeste accused D4vd of cheating on her and threatened to expose their sexual relationship.

D4vd invited Celeste to his home to talk things over and she took an Uber to his home on April 23, 2025 and was never seen alive again.

The prosecutor said she was attacked as soon as she entered his house and D4vd watched her bleed out.

D4vd then texted and called Celeste's cellphone asking where she was to cover his tracks, a premeditated plan. Later that day, he went to a party and acted normal as though nothing had happened.

To dispose of her body, he purchased an inflatable kiddie pool to place her body in which was in his garage, and he ordered 2 chainsaws to dismember her body. Celeste tattooed fingers were amputated. He put her body in the front trunk of a car before he went on his music tour and left it parked on the streets near his home in the Hollywood Hills neighborhood. He had planned to permanently get rid of her body when he returned home.

On September 8, 2025, the LAPD found Celeste Rivas Hernandez's decomposing and dismembered body in the front trunk of a Tesla. She was found a day after what would have been her 15th birthday. The 2023 Tesla Model Y was registered to D4vd who was on tour.

The Alex Murdaugh case continues to stay in the headlines as a decision looms about a possible new trial.

The South Carolina Supreme Court is reviewing Alex Murdaugh’s appeal for a new trial following his 2023 murder convictions.

Matt Johnson, youtube host of Justice with Matt Johnson, sits down with attorney Eric Bland, who uncovered Murdaugh’s financial crimes, to discuss and breakdown the case.

At the center of the appeals are allegations of possible jury tampering by Becky Hill, a former Colleton County Clerk of Court, and the defense claims that the extensive evidence of financial crimes went well beyond scope to establish a motive.

Even if Alex Murdaugh is granted a new trial for the murders, it does not negate the current sentence he is serving: two consecutive life sentences without parole for the 2021 murders of his wife, Maggie, and son, Paul. Plus, he is serving additional time for financial crimes.

If the Supreme Court reverses the lower court, the case would return to the circuit court. The S.C. Attorney General's office would decide whether to prosecute a second time.

Chris McDonough, a retired homicide detective and the host of The Interview Room youtube channel, joins True Crime podcaster Matt Johnson, to break down possible leads in the Nancy Guthrie case. Chris McDonough believes the suspect's car is the key to solving this crime. He said abducting an elderly person is so rare that it mystifies the data scientists.

Chris believes that at least 2 suspects are involved and the mastermind of the crime probably lives locally. In his experience as a homicide detective, burglars go into homes to steal things not people. This points to someone that has a grudge against a family member, not necessarily Savannah Guthrie and it's highly unlikely that Nancy Guthrie was the target.

On True Crime with Matt Johnson youtube channel, host Matt Johnson and an attorney & legal journalist, Julia Jenae, discuss the murder case of Celeste Rivas Hernandez and the murder charges against singer D4vd.

Below is a timeline on the murder of Celeste Rivas Hernandez.

On April 16, 2026, Singer D4vd (David Anthony Burke) was arrested for suspicion of murder and held without bail.

On April 20, 2026, D4vd was charged with first degree murder of Celeste Rivas Hernandez who was 14 at the time. D4vd has pleaded not guilty.

The Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan J. Hochman announced the murder charges in a press conference.

The Charges Include:

  1. First degree murder, 2. Sexual abuse of a child under the age of 14, 3. Mutilation of human remains

The criminal complaint also includes the following special circumstances:

  1. Murder of a witness

  2. Murder for financial gain

  3. Lying in wait

  4. Using a dangerous and sharp instrument to commit the crime

D4vd is 21 years old and was raised in Houston, TX. After his music career took off, he moved to California where he rented a mansion in Hollywood Hills for $20,000 a month.

Online records gathered by the authorities revealed that Celeste Rivas Hernandez first started engaging with D4vd on social media when she was around 12 years old.

Celeste's family reported her missing in April 2024. In January 2024, D4vd and Celeste were in a Twitch Livestream. In March 2024, D4vd was photographed getting out of a black Tesla near Celeste's home, and 4 months later in June, Celeste was photographed backstage at one of his Los Angeles shows.

D4vd invited Celeste Rivas Hernandez to his home on April 23, 2025, and she was never seen alive again.

A neighbor called the LAPD to report an abandoned Tesla that had been left parked on the streets in the Hollywood Hills neighborhood for days which was near D4vd's home.

On September 5, 2025, the Tesla was towed to the police impound lot. A few days later, an employee at the tow yard noticed a foul odor coming from the car and called the police.

On September 8, 2025, the LAPD found Celeste Rivas Hernandez's decomposing and dismembered body in the front trunk of the Tesla. She was found a day after what would have been her 15th birthday. The 2023 Tesla Model Y was registered to D4vd who was on tour.

After Celeste's remains were identified on September 16, 2025, D4vd canceled the remaining dates of his US music tour.

On September 18, 2025, the police executed a search warrant of D4vd's mansion. They seized computers and other items. The authorities found a significant amount of child pornagraphy on D4vd's cellphone and iCloud account.

According to the prosecutor, D4vd killed Celeste because she had threatened to expose his lewd and sexual relationship with her which could ruin and end his music career.

A tattoo with "Shhh..." was printed on the inside of Celeste's right index finger which is similar to the tattoo on D4vd's finger. Celeste's left hand and 2 fingers had been removed.

The case is being prosecuted by Beth Silverman of the Major Crimes Division. If D4vd is convicted and found guilty, he can face the death penalty or life in a state prison without the possibility of parole.

D4vd's attorney Blair Berk said her client is innocent and is pushing to quickly have a preliminary hearing in which a judge determines if the prosecutor has enough evidence to bring this case to trial.

After D4vd arrest, Celeste's family released a statement thanking law enforcement for their work on the case. "Celeste was a beautiful, strong girl who loved to sing and dance. Every Friday night was movie night and we spent wonderful times together. We love her very much and she always told us that she loved us. We miss her deeply. All we want is Justice for Celeste."

The charges filed in this case are allegations. The defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
