Anything I can do for someone who recently died?

My partner's dad died earlier this morning.

I was just with my partner last night. I was supposed to sleep over at his place but I had a doctor's appointment early in the morning so we decided that I should just go home last night.

Just this morning, I was woken up by a missed call. I called him back and he told me his dad died.

He was packing up his things because his parents live some 8 hours away from where he is. And I live a few hours away from him as well.

I wanted to go with him but I couldn't. First, I am new to my job. It's been only a month when I started and I'm sure they wouldn't allow me to take a leave for a week for the death of someone who isn't my relative. Second, this is my first ever job. I don't have any savings yet for me to go out of town for a week. Third, in the firm I'm working at, I was tasked to interview some clients this Monday and I have a thing to do at a labor court on Thursday. And fourth, my partner doesn't have any place to stay at anymore at his hometown. Their parents were kind of assholes and they gambled away their money and eventually, lost their house. The parents are currently staying over at my partner's grandmother. Him and his siblings will probably stay over at his grandma's place throughout the wake and burial and I wouldn't want to impose myself there because I feel like I will just be a burden.

Going back, given that we both know that it would be impossible for me to stay there, we decided that I can just stay here at home while him and his siblings go back to their hometown to process everything for the funeral and burial.

Now, I feel really bad because I couldn't be there for him physically. We are now chatting through messenger, but I know he would feel a lot better if was there with him.

But then, I am a follower of Santa Muerte. I will be lighting a candle in his honor while doing the rosary. But aside from doing a rosary tribute to his dad, is there anything else I can do?

Is there a ritual or prayers that the followers of SM do when someone dies?

Thank you.

Is Nickname the same as an Alias in RA 9048?

I'm confused.

My friend is a FilChi. He wants to register his nickname sa PSA since he basically uses his nickname all throughout his life. Di kasi siya marunong mag Chinese. As in he was just given a Chinese name but doesn't practice the traditions.

Ayaw naman niya magpa change of name entirely, but just for the official records to recognize that he uses the nickname that people call him ever since he was small.

The problem is some laws refer to nicknames while some refer to alias.

Is there a difference between the two?
