For Early Risers, How Do You Motivate Yourself to Get Up?

I know this is off topic, but I can't find another sub thats very relevant for this questions. The majority in this sub are fitness enthusiast.

For a few years, I woke up at 4am to workout. Did it pretty easily and only missed a few days. Fast forward many years, life changed.

I started a family, got a high stress job, and my fitness goals changed. I went a few years again getting up at 5am to train for my first half. I got injured, still ran, and then spent another year waking up early to train again for the next half. All went well, I beat my goal, and then wanted a break.

During the second training block, my job got super stressful, I went back to finish school, and then my only kid was diagnosed with cancer. After the half, I decided I needed a break, my body was telling me it was ready to break down.

Now, things are in a much better place. I'm ready to start training again. I have 36 weeks until the next half. The problem? I'm finding it very hard to wake up early again. I am missing more days in the first 3 week than I did the entire training block.

What ways do you keep yourself motivated and ensure you actually get out of bed to workout/run?

Are Night Guard + Crowns a Real Long-Term Solution?

Background

  • History of healthy teeth and gums, two fillings in 40 years.
  • Dentist suggested a night guard about 10 years ago, wore it nightly.
  • About 2 years ago it broke and I never got another.

Currently

  • 7 months ago I woke up with terrible sharp pain in all my teeth, it was seriously concerning and baffling.
  • Initial dentist said I bruised my teeth from clenching, took images + mold and ordered a prescription night guard.
  • 2 days later pain went to a 10 and couldn't eat and barely drink. Fortunately I found a dentist willing to come into the office on a Sunday.
  • Confirmed cracked molar (tooth 18) that needed immediate root canal.
  • Got root canal and finally gold crown.

Moving Forward

  • At my cleaning today the dentist confirmed tooth 31 is cracked and recommends a crown to prevent root canal.
  • Confirmed filling in tooth 4 is cracked and so is tooth. Recommends the same.

Question

If I'm not wanting to try masseter Botox, is fixing affected teeth with gold crowns and wearing a night guard nightly a real acceptable long-term strategy? My dentist said I clench so hard he's afraid eventually all my teeth will break.

i haven't bought glasses in person in years. I'm wanting to venture out to a different style, but I'm not confident enough to buy a pair online even if I can return them.

Do you know of a good place(s) that has lots of different styles in store?

My load isn't huge but awkward shaped. I really want a bag I can throw it all on everyday on my commute. 100% of the time my bag has:

  • 14" laptop
  • Laptop charger
  • Glasses
  • Pen
  • 3x individually wrapped flushable wipes
  • Hand wipes
  • Small sanitizer spray bottle
  • Altoids
  • Med tin
  • Bellroy 6L cooler caddy
  • 36oz stanley ice flow

The water bottle and lunch bag make things hard. I really like the GR35 having an external water bottle. I'm just worried the pack might be TOO big to EDC or too bulky.

I'm looking into using the state of Texas penal code protecting drought-resistant landscaping to overcome the HOA and convert my lawn. I noticed I already have something interesting here.

I created a workout and I'm trying to sync it. I M NOT using skip last rest for any set. It won't sync to my watch. This is crazy. Has anyone found a solution? This is incredibly annoying after using workouts for over 6 years and now I can't use my workouts?
