My granddad's old Ilford sporti that I have been using had intermittent issues with the shutter where it would stick or not fire for a second or two after pressing the shutter release button. This camera was produced around 1959 and he picked it up in Kenya when he was in the RAF.
I have previously replaced the front glass due to mould and issues with the focus ring. That said I have a totally spare version of the same camera for parts. It had a smoother shutter and so I thought I could just remove and replace the main spring as I thought it was the issue.
I have now made the issue worse and am a bit frustrated but I know it should be repairable due to it being a relatively simple firing mechanism.
Any help would be greatly appreciated as I would like to keep this family heirloom alive.
