Hi all, I'm moving to an office job at the VHA from another agency. How much flexibility is there typically in terms of start times in the morning. I do have caregiver responsibilities and sometimes it is difficult to be in the office at 7:00 a.m. what do you typically see as the range and the flexibility given to individuals??

Secondly, I know that the rule on lunch is hard and fast in the regs that individuals are supposed to work effectively 8 and 1/2 hours with a 30-minute lunch in the middle of the day. That said, in the real world, most federal agencies have a variety of policies in place at the local office level about how they actually handle this. Is there a cultural norm around people eating at their desk and working a straight eight?
