I use EWG and Yuka apps. Are there any other resources for knowing whether a company’s ingredients are truly safe? A lot of companies will ve toxin free but the replace their products with other toxins. Or, for example, brands like method and seventh generation promote themselves for being nontoxic but are not. What should I do?

I see a lot of amazon hate on here. I know it’s bad. I know it’s a lot of carbon emissons. I have a crazy lifestyle and amazon is convenient. It has free shipping (although I know they mark prices up). I want to stop using it, but as someone who lives 20-30 min away from any stores, where is a good alternative place to buy everyday things I need? or order stuff online? Isn’t walmart or target just as bad?
I stopped going to the salon before I went plastic free to save $70 every 2 weeks. I was doing the glue on nails at home (equally bad I’m sure, but at least I’m not inhaling dust during the process like in the salon).
What brands, if any, are truly non toxic? I want to try ella + mila but not sure if I can trust the label or not or if their alternative chemicals are just as bad.
I prefer to have my nails painted to avoid nail biting. Also, I work with my hands so I’m nervous about them chipping which is a whole other issue.
Or I just go natural and be sad. haha.
Side note: someone needs to do a study on fertility / health problems and nail salon clinics. And hair salons.
I have oily straight hair and an itchy, dry scalp. Fragrance free has helped me a lot with my scalp, but my actual hair looks dry and damaged without added plastics like silicone to seal the cuticle. Any suggestions on the best products? I am currently using vanicream fragrance free. I use ordinary brand argan oil (but might switch to a lighter oil like jojoba or squalene).
thanks in advance :)
Percolator, pour over, or french press? I currently have a drip coffee machine. I also love cold brew if anyone has an easy way to make it at home with zero plastic.
Looking for a method using an object that’s zero plastic but also easy to clean, won’t break after a month.
side note: best coffee that’s sustainable and affordable to buy? Should I grind my own beans? Is there a plastic free affordable way?
thanks in advance!
I have perfectly good pots and pans. In fact, the first set I got was carote (no telfa but could have other linings). Second set was a wedding gift where I asked for carote brand ceramic (didn’t know these could have linings of plastics coatings as well for non stick). They are like almost brand new. I don’t like the idea of cooking on them if there’s possible chemicals, but at the same time I don’t want to contribute to more waste. What should I do? Just buy the stainless steel ones and donate them?
My basket for my silverware in my dishwasher is plastic! Easy replacement option on amazon- all stainless steel.
