Introducing Allergens to Infant - Flare Ups

My son has mild eczema in his arm creases, behind his knees, and tops of his feet. He had it on his stomach, but it completely cleared after eliminating dairy. Before we introduced solids, it was completely clear.

When we introduced peanuts, it flared up, including on his face which he hasn’t had before. He was tested negative for peanut allergy, and it hasn’t come back nearly as bad as when we first introduced it. The same goes for egg.

Yesterday I introduced walnut. No reaction at all. I wake up this morning, and he has eczema flared all over his face, including his eyes. This is almost 24 hours later.

I read it is normal for eczema to flare when introducing the allergens.

I just wanted to see if any parents had similar experiences and their child being negative for that specific allergen?

Alimentum RTF Price Increase

Have stores near you recently increased the price of Alimentum RTF? Up until a month ago, Meijer had it for $15.99, then increased to $17.99. Up until a couple weeks ago, Walmart was at $15.88, now is $17.48. I assumed Similac raised their price, but it’s the same $15.83 a bottle. Target still shows theirs at $15.88, the only store I don’t buy a bunch from.

I am being slightly conspiracy brained because right when I started buying a bunch from each store, the prices increased within a couple weeks. My son goes through one bottle a day.

Hello!

My four year old neutered male cat keeps having blood in his stool. It’s maybe once every couple weeks. It is always red and a small amount, like a schmear or smaller than pea size. It seems to concentrate on the outside of his butt more so than in his actually poop.

He was recently diagnosed with IBD. He had high calcium levels. Due do that, he was given an ultrasound, x-rays, and additional blood work to screen for cancer. All came back negative for cancer but led to the IBD diagnosis.

For the high calcium, I was told to put him on chia seeds. This helped return his levels to normal.

He is now on Z/D wet and dry food. I feel like there has been an increase in blood since this. He is also on a 1/4 tsp psyllium husk twice a day due to soft stool.

I had previously mentioned a couple years ago the blood, and because all his blood work came back fine, the vets didn’t seem concerned. When I mentioned it again recently, I was instructed to give the psyllium husk.

His demeanor hasn’t changed. He’s as active as he ever has been. We did have a baby six months ago, so I’m not sure if the stress from that can impact him. He eats perfectly fine (has actually gained weight since being on Z/D) and drinks fine.

Is this something typical for cats with IBD?
