Using bolt and nut to fix the hub on a shaft
In the drawing, the bolt tip is in contact with the shaft. As I rotate the bolt, it will clamp the hub with the shaft tightly. What I don't get is that it seems that the hub is threaded, so what is the point of the nut? Is it used as a lock nut? Also, I have seen someone welded the nut onto the hub and just rotate the bolt in.
