I am currently a rising senior majoring in Finance and Economics going into my summer internship in FP&A at an asset manager. I want to pursue something alongside my internship to not only prepare me for the work force but also help me get a job.

Some things I have been considering are pursuing my series 66, FMVA or if there were similar free ways online to study financial modeling, or continue studying for the CFA although I don’t think I will sit anytime soon.

While my summer internship is in FP&A I am not really sure if that’s what I want to do as a career. I would love to stay at the company I am at and pivot to Equity Research. I have also strongly considered a career in wealth management specifically private banking.

I know this post is kinda vague and all over the place but I guess what I’m mainly asking is: What is the best option objectively? What do recruiters value? What option would provide me with the most applicable material? Is the series 66 prior to being hired have any value as most companies pay for it anyway?

Any advice is appreciated!
