Let's say I am wearing a helmet which deduces 2 damage on primary 3s and secondary 2s. Can I subtract 4 from an Oldfang Pillarists Heavy Swing (manoeuver dice 3 2)?

The rules just state I can only use one piece of armour per attack, but nothing about this scenario.
