I purchased a pair of Alan Edmonds Park avenues from Goodwill last month that the uppers were in great condition just needed. A new soul recently moved and do not know any cobblers in my area. Found one online called them and asked about their ability to resole a good year wealth shoe. They told me that should be perfectly fine. Bring them in and they’ll be able to give me the yes or no
Brought them that day they looked over said there would be no issues wrote me up a ticket for the soul and an insert on the heel to rep repair worn down leather. Full price 155.
Pick them up today apparently the ticket said half soul and heel not a full soul replacement. Looking over the shoes there is stitching coming from the tow box and a slight gap on the front of the tow box in between the upper and the sole. This immediately looks off to me. The only stitching from the tow box should be connecting to the Goodyear welt… Right? I’m obviously not that knowledgeable hence why I’m here.
Additionally, not a static with how they repaired the inside heel, but definitely is functional.
I guess my question is should I/can I wear these without causing any potential damage or making repairs harder/impossible in the future?
I am debating sending directly to Alan Edmonds for their full service sole replacement.
