Why am I gaining weight in a deficit?
Stick with me- this isn’t the usual deficit post. I’ve been in a 1.5 lb per week cut since November. Most recently in that cut I was eating 1594 calories a day (5’11” woman in my early 30s). I’m using the loseit app so it continuously drops calories as you drop weight to stay within the same deficit. This calculation was correct since I lost 40 lbs during that period of time. Which is approximately 6 lbs every 30 days (counting to the end of April).
Recently I’m finding myself fatigued by the aggressive deficit. I decided to go to 1lb a week lost instead of the 1.5lb a week rate I’ve been going. This added 250 calories a day which is 1846 calories. The issue is that since I changed this amount for the month of May I’ve gained 3 lbs. Every day I’ve gotten on the scale since increasing my calories. I would understand this at maintenance calories as I know it’s mostly like additional food and water weight until you even out. I’m confused by it currently since I’m still in a deficit. Any opinions?
Do I go back down to the lower calorie number to continue losing?
