Genuine question still new to downloading the rosters but like if a new updated download comes do i have to make a new franchise save or can i download it in the save i already made?

it’s my first time downloading a roster and using the online franchise mode and when i tried to download it said it worked but when i did fully load the franchise nothing changed and it won’t let me choose the file either what should i do?
