Overclocked my Alienware M15X 1080p display.

Thought I’ll try out overclocking my LG Phillips 1080P display which was optioned with this rig when new, would be nice to have some extra headroom for when I max this machine out next month.

I used a tool named CRU (custom resolution utility) to adjust the refresh rate.

Tested with Blurbusters motion test, alongside the stutter test which is also available.

Recorded the displays during testing, everything is looking butter smooth with zero stutters. You can definitely feel the difference with the increase.

I’m pretty impressed considering the age of this machine. I could potentially squeeze more out of it but feel like this is a sweet spot. 👍

Unable to get drivers for my M15X. My service tag doesn’t seem to exist?

Hi, service tag matches bottom case, bios etc. it’s also entered correctly.

I am in need of all the drivers for this rig & unable to acquire them.

Any ideas on what I can do to get the needed drivers?

Windows 7 pro, 64bit. Machine is purely used for older games for compatibility. Before I see comments about “security risks” yes I’m fully aware, I do not browse random insecure websites like a baboon.

Thanks.

Hi, received this rig today, it’s optioned very well, original 256gb sata 2 SSD, Radeon 5850 & 1080p display) minus the ram & dual core i7 620m.

I’m looking for some insight regarding ram upgrades. Seen online apparently these can take 2 x 8gb sticks @ 1600mhz and others saying 1333mhz.

I plan on maxing this right out, going to enjoy the 5850 for the time being and upgrade the rest first.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks
