Quick review: Tech21 Bass Fly Rig v2

So, I bought one recently off of Reverb for a decent price. Since my experience seems a bit different from the other reviews I'd like to give it a go.

The compressor is too sensitive and as people already wrote: I don't dail it past 8 o'clock. Around 9 you really hear the over saturation (thump) I haven't used this part as a sole booster but will look in to the application of that. The pad button takes away too much. I use both a P with semi flats and an active Yamaha. The signal drops a lot so I don't use it. The Yamaha has a hi-fi sound so it can use the normal sound.

The channels are really great. I use channel 1 (the modern one) for clean and channel 2 for drive. They did an awesome job here. You can't go wrong. Using channel 1 for drive doesn't work for me: too clangy and too many highs, especially if you use channel 2 for your clean signal.

I tend to use the effects of octafilter separately. The Q-filter is a funny gimmick that I see no practical use for but I never had a use for it. The octaver is too muddy or dirty, I can hardly hear an octave in it. The fuzz is quite sensitive. The signal dies easily on my P in a very synthetic way. This part of the pedal doesn't seem to work too well with those semi flats.

The chorus is nice and crisp with the Yamaha and smooth and subtle with the P. I think it could really add some depth to the sound. I use it quite often to get that extra dimension. I would like it to have more controls.

Overall, it's a nice and small pedal that packs a lot of features for its size. Since I used the two channels most of the time I wonder if the (slightly cheaper) Tech21 Sansamp Bass Driver Programmable would've been a better fit for me, having three channels. I'll stick with this Bass Fly Rig v2 for now as it fits my needs.
