The title says it all. I've been making a dnd world where technology level is closer to that of the bronze age.
So far it has gone well. I've made regional powers, city states mostly but with vassals etc. Some major powers already have iron weapons that will be akin to +1 magical weapons, while others have advantage in their magical capabilities. Wizards from nations with papyrus have natural advantage to those who rely on clay and stone tablets... carrying around "spellbook" with 100 pages made of stone is slightly disadvantageous.
But trying to make the religion part reflect bronze age mentality has been harder for me to iron out. Having gods be more regional instead of having singular pantheon is something I would like. I kind of like trying to incorporate the Assyrian sort of belief that when nations fight, their gods are also fighting each other, both wars influencing the other. Defeated nations gods getting weaker or losing their powers if the nation falls.
Having demons/devils vs celestials also feels too christian influenced. Maybe having different planes also be more regional?
Any thoughts or ideas? Is it all too complex?
