TO BE UP FRONT AND CLEAR: Danny, Brian, everyone in TWRP, and Jazz Emu were all amazing, entertaining, exactly as I expected.
NSP were a true bucket list band for me, which makes it really sad that I ended up not enjoying most of my time. I think I must have been stood directly behind the one rude NSP fan, cos everyone else I met on the night was absolutely lovely.
Sadly, I'm a chronic pain haver, and Rock City is not a great venue for the disabled, they ran out of seating for those who requested it within minutes of doors, but I had my walking stick, so I figure I can stand behind the elevated step that the wheelchair and chair users were on pretty safely.
In comes a guy who forces his way into the tiny gap between me and the seats, and spends the entire gig dancing and headbanging like NSP had busted out ukuleles and steel drums to play a satanic jam to our dark lord.
Now, I'm all for a good mosh, I'd probably be in better health if I'd spent much less time in the pit as a youth, it was purely positioning that was an issue (though I guess if he'd been down on the ground he'd have had a similar issue due to the size of the crowd). He was pushing further back with every song, and there was no space to get out of his way, he was rude when it was pointed out to him, and he repeatedly kicked my stick out from under me (accidentally, I'm sure, but there's no way you don't notice you're doing this, at one point his whole ass was sat on the handle of my stick).
I ended up spending most of my energy and effort just to stay upright, until I realised I couldn't concentrate on the concert because of the combo of pain and trying not to get taken out. So I cut my losses, and went to the bar, if I couldn't see the band, at least I could still hear them.
I've decided not to cross NSP off my bucket list, as I wanna see them again, maybe with a lot more painkillers in my system and at a venue that can actually accomodate.
I'm sorry for the complain-y post, I just wanna give everyone a "yanno, have some gig etiquette, think about others and we can all have fun!" If there's an area that is clearly for people that aren't able-bodied, maybe it's not the place to dance like that?
