Hello!! I went out to some bars and one had a decent spirits menu with fair prices. I ordered Weller Full Proof since it was 25 bucks and I haven't had it yet. It turned out to be all gone so I got a Booker's. Haven't had this in a long time either and the server said it was a brand new bottle that hadn't been opened yet. So whatever the current batch is, presumably.

Overall: 6 (Very Good). It good. Better than average, not anything special. It was heavy on the brighter, younger fruity side of things, not much oak or nuts in evidence. Reminded me of Old Grand-Dad 114 with a bit more age and a lot more proof on it. It was a scorcher for sure, my first sip actually gave me hiccups. After that it cooled down a bit. Not a whole lot to say about it I suppose. As a bar pour it was a fine sip, but not anywhere near as complex as I remember it being the last time I had it 1000 years ago, and there's no way I would pay $100 for it today. I've heard unsubstantiated claims that the "juice" has been getting younger on these and I would tend to believe that. It didn't stand out as being much if any better than OGD 114 or a Knob Creek single barrel. If it was in the $50 range I might try a bottle. I ended up having a Manhattan after this which was far better.

ENJOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This book (novella) was so much fun. Great balance of character work, shocks and jokes without going overboard (i.e. droning on & on and becoming boring). There were a few minor questionable plot elements but the story moved quickly enough that it never really bothered me, which is saying something since I'm super picky and obnoxious about stuff like that. Best of all, the author can actually write! I felt like I was reading a Real Book instead of a random person's first draft of their first attempt at writing. I also laughed out loud multiple times in the story, which is also quite rare because I hate having fun and I think everyone is unfunny by default. I'm glad I checked this one out and you should too! ENJOY!!!! **8/10**
