I live in an apartement, so i can‘t make big changes. My switch in the bathroom turn on the light and the fan at the same time. So i dont have the option to let the light on.

But i want the light to be different color in the day. Is there a way to dont change all the electricity and my switch, but keep the automation to change color depending of the hours.

If the power is off and i change the “power on” option in the app, when i turn on the power for some reason that work, so why not color.

So normally I try to start with a kind of samatha and then switch to vipassana during meditation. I’ve been testing things and I’ve found out that I can control sensations.

For example, yes, I can feel the ground under my feet, but I can also mute some pain I feel in my body. I’ve also noticed that I can take a pain I feel in my hand and simply shift that sensation to my foot. Why? How? I don’t know. Nothing changes, it’s just a temporary shift in the perception of it.

My question is: what is this technique called?

I don’t understand why people don’t teach meditation more straightforwardly. I’ve tried multiple times and gave up quickly. There are books, videos, websites, and everything I’ve found always spends 30 minutes saying a bunch of nothing…

I learned for the first time by myself. I discovered anchors, basically focusing on a sense (visual, sensation, sound), having an intention like trying to think about nothing (when a thought comes, observe it and bring your focus back), and breathing. I experimented a lot over two days and found ways to reach a hypnagogic state, and learned a lot from it.

Now I’m trying to learn more, but I can’t find anyone explaining everything in a simple way, without talking about benefits, guided meditations, etc.
