Lock paralysis

Lock paralysis

Hi all. Longtime lurker first time poster

I just picked up my new Level 3 on Friday and it’s been really fun, but I’m having a hard time deciding on which lock to get. Likely I’m overthinking things, but I could use your help.

I signed up for Sundays insurance, and they require certain locks, but it just seems to be as long as they hit a certain price point they’re acceptable.

I’ve been looking at a million locks and getting burnt out trying to find the right system.

I was originally going to get an angle grinder resistant lock, but considering Sundays’ requirement is less than $150 for either a chain or U lock it seems like I can get away with something a little less pricey.

I have a kryptonite Kryptolok series 2 from an old road bike, but I’m on the fence about a secondary lock. I was looking at the kryptonite New York lock U lock or the Hiplok Gold wearable chain lock.

Considering Sundays requirements do you think it makes sense to not spend $3-400 on an angle grinder lock and go with the dxxl chain since I have a u lock already?

My use case is that most of the time I’ll commuting 20 min to work, and during the day it’ll be locked up in a members only bike parking garage with fob entry. That’s where I forsee leaving it the longest. Obviously I’ll also take it out for quick trips around town but can’t imagine I’ll be gone that long at a time. And with the insurance, and built in security measures (although there does seem to be some lag in the Aventon app security notification from the time the locked bike is disturbed and when I get an alert), the chain and u lock I already own seem like they might be good enough. Especially considering no system is foolproof from what I can tell.

I don’t live in a big city. It’s generally pretty safe here, although I know bike theft is a pretty common occurrence here.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

Edit: for clarity and correct model (and add URL) of chain lock I am considering.

I’ve been cataloging and organizing my music recently. On my way to work this morning I pulled out Enya’s self titled album from 1986. Never noticed this before on the inside sleeve.

I wonder how long Atlantic did this and if other labels did something similar. Pretty cool.

It states,

“The Compact Disc Digital Audio System offers the best possible sound reproduction-on a small, convenient sound-carrier unit. The Compact Disc's remarkable performance is the result of a unique combination of digital playback with laser optics. For best results, you should apply the same care in storing and handling the Compact Disc as with conventional records. No further cleaning will be necessary if the Compact Disc is always held by the edges and is replaced in its case directly after playing. Should the Compact Disc become soiled by fingerprints, dust or dirt, it can be wiped always in a straight line, from center to edge) with a clean and lint-free soft, dry cloth. No solvent or abrasive cleaner should ever be used on the disc. If you follow these suggestions, the Compact Disc will provide a lifetime of pure listening enjoyment.”
