“In a meeting with students today, President Limayem was asked where the university stands on its embarrassingly low pay for Graduate Assistants and the corresponding decline in graduate student enrollment. His answer? “[graduate assistants] are not expected to live on [their] stipends.” Instead, we are expected to take out loans and budget to make ends meet. The idea that GAs should be subjugated to debt and poverty to seek graduate degrees is disgusting and highly offensive. This is unacceptable, and we will not stand for it.”
