Usability of a T450 as a laptop in 2026
Hello everyone, I am currently looking at using an old T450 that was originally given by a company for work usage and has been laying around my house for years. I am soon to be going off to university, and was wondering if I would be able to feasibly use the T450 as a device for lectures and overall work, as my current laptop while is extremely powerful and usable, has loud ass fans and has a pretty mediocre battery life. The T450 I have is basically untouched other than the fact it used to be a work device. It has the Ultrabook sticker on it, no idea if that has any actual impact on the device. I would like to know what basic things I can do to make this thing way more usable for my purposes, and I was also wondering if I would be able to feasibly make it a usable workstation, as I have heard of these laptops having windows reinstalled onto them and not having any like actual company software on them anymore. The company that this laptop is from underwent a merger a years ago if that means anything, no real idea about stuff like this as I am still learning how to pull this off myself. I would appreciate any advice.
