Based on the Dean Koontz book. Man, I loved Koontz in the day, read all his books up until the early 00s. Haven’t seen this one since the early 90s when it was an HBO (or one of those) staple, plus early teen me wasn’t happy it deviated so much from the book
Now I am older, and just wanna relax and enjoy the ride. I am a big creature feature fan, and I dig this one. Great 80s atmosphere, government cover ups and incompetence. Haim is squeaky voiced but always been a fan. The legendary Michael Ironside, he is great in this. Solid supporting cast, cute mom, the dog is cool. The creature is 80s cheese, but we get plenty of kills
The ending is anti-climactic but overall it’s a breezy 90 minutes and hits the ground running with little filler
