I am new to this city and used to coastal NSW and always driving to work or shops etc. Now, for first time I live near trains and trams and generally plan to drive less. Can I just throw on like a warm coat or puffer and wear normal work clothes underneath like a pants suit and boots or will I need thermal layers under as well as the coat or puffer? Especially if I am getting on and off trams?

I am something of a cold-ling eg I hate being cold but get cranky when I overheat. Joys of middle age!
