I consider myself to be a Sondheim fanatic, and I have been so sad that we will never get new music by him.
I have never really heard anything by anyone (ever?) that really made me think . . . Oooooo that reminds me of Sondheim . . . Until today?!?!
Look, I am no music theory student, so I don't know the proper terminology to describe why it reminded me of him, but I listened to Beverly Glenn-Copeland's "Laughter in Summer" today and it was one of the most beautiful recordings I have listened to in a LONG time. I heard Sondheim in the music and lyrics. I can't exactly put my finger on which song it reminded me of the most, but I would say it maybe resembled Pacific Overtures the most?
Have you ever listened to anything that made you think of Sondheim? Who was it? Why was it? I am so curious!
