I have been offered a research paid position on a 1 year contract subject to increment after every year in California with a decent compensation. I have done all steps and am ecfmg certified. I am targeting neurosurgery match, yes I know about the difficulty. However, my concern is the J1 visa being offered to me. This might come with the mandatory 2 year home stay ? If this happens I can not apply for residency and get a visa right ? And If my contract does not extend I might have to waste 2 years back home. Anyone on a research position with J1 have advise for me ? What to do ?
