What should I do

Hi, I’m 21 years old and live in Kent. I’m starting my Class 1 training next week, but I’m a bit unsure about what to do afterwards.

The company I’m training with can offer me a guaranteed job with a fairly large company, which sounds great, but I already have quite a lot of holiday booked over the next year, including one trip that will last around two months. I know some people would say to just cancel it, but I’ve been waiting about five years to do it, so I’d really rather not if possible.

I haven’t spoken to the company yet, but I’m doubtful they’d be willing to take me on with that amount of leave already booked. Because of that, I’m considering staying in my current job and doing agency driving work on my days off, just so I can build experience and keep my driving skills fresh before moving into it full time later on.

The other option would be leaving my current job and trying to do agency work full time for the next 6–7 months before I go away. I’m leaning more towards that option, but I’m not sure how reliable agency work is or whether I’d consistently get enough shifts.

This might end up being useless and the company doesn’t care about my holidays but I’d like some other ideas just in case

Any advice would be really appreciated.
