Yesterday Fitbit pushed the update "3.57.1.2.910093395.release" and today, once again, skin temp and SpO2 tracking stopped working because the update silently reset permissions again ( millionth time probably). Except this time it is even worse. I cannot even re-enable them because the permissions page literally says “no app is requesting permissions” and does not allow me to click on it and add permissions. Earlier updates at least I could select and add permissions and after clearing cache it works from next day but this time fitbit screwed up something even more.
What kind of incompetent development team keeps shipping this garbage?
This has happened to me around 10 TIMES in the last 10 months. Every few weeks it is the same nonsense. Updates breaking health tracking, permissions randomly resetting, sensors not recording data, features disappearing, sync issues, random bugs everywhere. This thing behaves like some cheap knockoff smartwatch, not a premium product from one of the richest tech companies on earth.
Google is charging Apple-level prices for a watch with bargain-bin software reliability. That is honestly embarrassing.
How does a multi-billion-dollar company still fail at maintaining basic health tracking permissions in 2026? People have been complaining about these exact issues forever and somehow every update manages to break something else. It genuinely feels like users are unpaid beta testers for unfinished software.
The software team behind this watch is absolutely pathetic. Zero consistency. Zero quality control. Zero confidence that an update will not break core features yet again.
At this point every Fitbit update feels like a gamble:
“Will my watch actually work properly today or did Google break another feature overnight?”
Premium price.
Dollar-store reliability.
