A Splendid Spring Date (A one-shot Apollo x Juniper fanfic)
Notes: This fanfic is set two months after Turnabout for Tomorrow and may contain spoilers for AA5. Read at your own risk. With that out of the way, I hope you enjoy this (sorta) short fanfic. Let me know what y'all think.
Summary: Juniper invites Apollo to hang out with her at a café. She plans to confess her love to Apollo. Will she succeed in confessing? Will Apollo reciprocate her love? Find out in this one-shot fanfic.

[Saturday February 20^(th)****, 2028, 9:30 am, Apollo’s Apartment]
As the ear-piercingly shrill alarm rings on his phone, Apollo Justice reaches for it and turns it off. Still shrouded in drowsiness, he wakes up and trudges towards the bathroom and gets ready for a cold bath. Once he was done with the bath, he stretched his body and hence felt ready to go on with his day. As he was about to change into a red t-shirt and a pair of navy-blue shorts, he gets a phone call. Apollo picks it up and sees that the call is from an unknown number.
“An unknown number…… I hope it’s not another client. I really want this Saturday to myself.” Apollo thought to himself before picking it up. “Apollo Justice speaking,” he says professionally. He then hears a meek, female voice from the other end, timidly saying his name.
“Apollo,” said the girl. Immediately recognizing the voice, he nervously asks, “J- Juniper? I- Is there anything I can help with?”
“Y- Yeah. Umm… can we meet at the café today? There’s… *cough* there’s something I want to talk to you about.”
“The café, huh……… sure. I’ll be on my way. At what time?”
“Is 5pm okay with you?” Juniper Woods asks.
“Yup. 5pm it is.”
“Alright. I’ll be waiting for you, Apollo.”
Apollo hangs up the phone and changes into his t-shirt and shorts. After putting on his training shoes, he mounts his bicycle and heads for the gym.
[Saturday February 20^(th)****, 2028, 10:30am, Gym]
Upon arriving at the gym, he performed a few warm-up exercises before approaching the squat rack. As he was about to begin his leg day, an all too familiar voice gleefully called out to him, “Apollo!”
Hearing his name, he turned around and saw his co-worker & friend, Athena Cykes, who was wearing a yellow tracksuit. “Hello there Athena. I suppose today’s your leg day too?” asked Apollo, passing a friendly smile. Athena answered, “Yup. Just wrapping up my cardio, and then I’ll head out. If ya want anything, I’ll be at the treadmill.” Then she ran off to the treadmill as per her word. Once Apollo got done with 3 sets of ten squats amounting to 30 kilograms, he approached Athena and asked, “Hey Athena, can I ask you something?”
“Sure thing. I’m all ears,” said Athena. Then, Apollo asked, “By any chance, did you happen to give my phone number to Juniper?”
“Wait a minute. How did you know that?”
“I’m psychic, you know…” said the two-horned attorney with a stern expression, before quickly switching to his dorky disposition and saying “Just kidding, Athena. It’s just intuition.” Athena then said, “Yeah… Junie said that she wanted to talk to you about something. Not sure what it is though.”
“Well, she wanted me to meet up with her at the café. I’m presuming it’s just a friendly get-together.”, said Apollo. The yellow clad attorney then got off the treadmill, and as she dapped Apollo up, she said, “Eitherway, I hope you have fun with Junie. See ya on Monday at the agency!” After waving each other goodbye, Athena jogged out, and Apollo carried on with his leg day.
[Saturday February 20^(th)****, 2028, 3:00pm, Apollo’s Apartment]
“2 hours left… I better get ready”, thought Apollo, as he rummaged through his closet filled with red suits, and picked out his favourite one, which is his usual lawyer attire consisting of a white shirt, teal tie, red pants and a red half-coat. After taking a quick but thorough cold shower, he changed into the attire, put on his attorney’s badge (because he felt like it), and booked a taxi to the café that Juniper mentioned.
[Saturday February 20^(th)****, 2028, 5:00pm, Café]
As Apollo entered the café, he saw no sign of Juniper Woods. Thinking that she’s just late, the red clad lawyer sat down at the table in the far corner from the entrance door. After a couple of minutes, he saw a magnificently beautiful young girl enter the café, who was wearing a light pink dress, a cream half-sweater with a yellow ribbon and a pinecone, white fingerless gloves, a white sun hat with a brown section, and brown shoes, coupled with a sun hat adorned with sunflowers, while her greenish-brown hair were worn in pigtails with knots tied at the end with leaves. As this girl was approaching him, he could sense the pleasant scent of lavender, and the underlying euphoria that came along with it. He waved to her, and she meekly waved back as the girl sat down on the seat across Apollo, who knew the girl to be Juniper Woods.
“How are you… Apollo?”, asked Juniper.
“I’m fine, what about you?”
“I’m fine too.”
The flower girl then asked Apollo, “So, what have you *cough* been up to?” The two-horned lawyer answered, “Not much. Just the usual lawyering. Outside of that, I’ve also started hitting the gym after the HAT-2 launch two months ago.”
“That’s really nice”, said Juniper, while sporting a gentle and warm smile. This was followed by a moment-long awkward silence, after which Apollo then asked, “If I remember correctly, there’s something you wanted to talk to me about.” Juniper then exclaimed, "Ah yes, that’s right! You see… *cough* the *cough* thing is…” Suddenly, Juniper’s face went pale as the flower girl felt increasingly nervous, and it would not be long until she would enter a coughing fit.
“Junie! Are you alright?!” asked Apollo. He got worried and quickly ran towards the drinks bar to get a glass of water, which he gave to Juniper. “It’s okay… I’m here, Juniper. Here, have some water”, said Apollo as he reassured her, gave her the glass, and gently rubbed her left shoulder. Juniper gulped down the glass of water, took off a sunflower from her sun hat and inhaled the pollen from it, much like how an asthmatic would use an inhaler before putting the sunflower back. Apollo, still with a concerned look on his face, asked her how she was feeling, to which Juniper answered, “Y- Yeah *sigh* I’m a- alright now.”
Juniper cleared her throat and said, “As I was saying, I… I wanted to tell you something important.”
“Something important?” asked Apollo.
“Yes. You see… the thing is that I… I love you.”
After five seconds of silence, Apollo look down and started giggling smugly. Slightly agitated, Juniper exclaimed, “It’s not a joke, Apollo! I really, really love you! Ever since you and Athena defended me 4 months ago, I’ve been admiring you for as long as I can remember. If it wasn’t for you, I wouldn’t have been able to continue my studies at the academy. You saved my dreams! You saved my life! And even at your worst, you tried to defend me in the courtroom bombing incident. You’re as strong, bright, and warm as the sun. Your smile gave me hope when there was none. I still remember when you shielded me from the rubble during the explosion. I’m forever in your debt, Apollo!” She then took off her right glove, grasped Apollo’s right hand and said, “I…… I don’t know what I’d do without you.”
Surprised by Juniper’s infatuation, Apollo tried to process everything that the shy girl in front of him said. After a bit, he replied, “Junie…… I had no idea you felt this way for me.” But then, to Juniper’s surprise, the two-horned attorney grasped Juniper’s hand (which was holding his hand before) and said, “But truth be told, I also really like you. Your gentle smile and kind words calm me down when I’m in a bind. Your presence soothes my soul, like the moon’s reflection on water.”
“Apollo…” whispered Juniper with a smile, before tears started falling from her eyes.
“Don’t worry, Junie. I’m here. Cry as much as you want. I’ll always wipe your tears.” Said Apollo, while wiping away Juniper’s tears.
Once the red attorney was done with the beautifully romantic ordeal of wiping the flower girl’s tears, he chuckled as he asked, “So, anything you want to order right now?” Juniper quickly replied, “Oolong Tea with a French Omelette!”
“Interesting choice, Junie. In that case, I’ll get myself an Americano and a club sandwich,” said Apollo, as he then called the waiter to give their order. And so, the two spent a beautiful and romantic evening with each other, eating their food and talking to each other about their future career plans.
[Saturday February 20^(th)****, 2028, 6:00pm, People Park]
“That was quite fun for a first date, wouldn’t you agree, Junie?”
“It sure was, Apollo,” said Juniper with a chuckle, as the two sat on a bench, shoulder to shoulder, watching the serene golden sunset as cherry blossom trees showered the young couple with petals. They wrapped their arms around each other’s shoulders and exchanged affectionate glances before hugging each other tightly.
As the two were interlocked in a hug, Juniper said, “I wish time would stop right now, because this moment…… is the greatest moment I’ll ever experience. Apollo, I want to promise you one thing.”
“Yeah, what is it, Junie?”
“I promise to always support you through thick and thin. Even if the world chooses to become your enemy, I will always be there for you, to help you, to fight for you. Apollo, I… will be your light of hope that shines in the darkest abyss of despair.”
“Junie… I also promise to be by your side… always. Even when the sun goes down, I will be the fire that guides you in the dark, and I will be the sword to your shield.”
After a while, the two let go of each other, and Juniper presents a tiny box to Apollo. Confused, he asked about the box, to which she answered, “This box contains two rings: a gold one, and a silver one. They’re the symbols of our newly formed partnership.” Then, she takes the silver ring and gestures the red clad attorney to let her put it on his ring finger. Afterwards, Apollo took the gold ring and put it on the flower girl’s ring finger.
“I guess it’s official now,” said Apollo while letting out a chuckle. Before the two left the park for their respective residencies, Juniper gave Apollo a peck on the cheek, causing him to blush as red as the suit he was wearing.
“See you soon, Apollo!”
“See you soon, Junie!”
They walked away as they waved back to each other.
