Hello! Hoping for an ID on my parent's plant. Not sure what it is. (Sorry, I'm very new to this!) Google tells me it's a Cast Iron plant. They've had it for several years, they only water it, I think every Sunday. Pot has decent drainage. It has never been repotted. There's some sort of chunky, orange growth on the soil.

It's just existing, but I don't think it's ​thriving, as I've never seen any change or growth, ever. I'd like to change that, but I've been known to kill mint and would like advice before attempting anything.
