Hi, I'm pure Japanese, and I'm an international student in AUS. This study abroad was my first time leaving Japan.

So, I'd like to ask people who are not Japanese. Recently, a close local friend told me that Japanese people often talk about Japan a lot and seem to think it's the best country. She also said that I still have a very "Japanese mindset".

I had never noticed that before, so when she said that, it honestly made me quite sad. It made me realize that i might have been unconsciously talking about japan in a boastful way. Japan is often romanticized by people overseas on social media, so I feel like, without realizing it, I may have been showing an attitude of " my country is the best". Have you ever felt that way about Japanese people? Or is that only ME thing....? As a people living abroad, do you think this is something I should try to change? I'm trying my best to not use the word "Japan" or "Japanese" but it seems like I unconsciously talk about Japan all the time and make people uncomfortable. Also, if anyone's gone through something similar, how did you work with it?
