Hi everyone,
I have a question about a U.S. visa, and I’d really appreciate it if anyone with knowledge or prior experience could help.
My U.S. visa is in my regular passport. At the time of my travel, this passport will have only 3 months of validity left (while the U.S. typically requires 6 months validity). I now also have a special (green) passport.
Just to clarify for those unfamiliar with Turkish passports:
- The regular (burgundy) passport is the standard passport issued to all citizens.
- The special (green) passport is a special type of regular (not official/diplomatic) passport issued mainly to certain government employees and their families, and it provides visa-free access to some countries.
I know that it is generally possible to use a valid U.S. visa in an expired passport together with a new passport. However, I’m unsure whether having different passport types would create any issues. at travel.visa.gov there is this information:
"Both passports (the valid and the expired one with the visa) should be from the same country and type (Example: both Uruguayan regular passports, both official passports, etc.)"
But as far as i know, in visa application both regular and green passports are selected as regular.
In short:
Can I enter the U.S. using my valid visa in my regular passport while traveling with my special passport?
Thank you in advance!
