So I've been attempting to play golf for about 2 and a half years now, long story but I've finally found a coach that has actually improved my swing, however my driver has gone so bad I don't tend to get it out the bag during a round and instead brought a 5 wood as I'd read they can be more forgiving.

So with this I've been hitting 200-215 yards and usually in play, but recently this has also gone pear shaped, I should probably have not stopped playing for 3 months!

Anyway, just been up the range after a horrific round on sunday to work on swing, irons ok again, even 5 wood doing what it should (most the time).

So I decided I needed to try the driver, now I often find its too long and that going up into back swing i almost get lost and its a miracle if I connect with the ball.

So I started to grip lower in the shaft where my thumb and index finger are on the shaft rather then the grip(none glove hand)

All of a sudden I was pinging the ball relatively straight and getting about 210-225 yards, so now I'm wondering if shortening the shaft might help me and perhaps adding more weight to back of the head.

I won't be jumping to get the saw out off 1 good session but think I'll return again later in the week to test out this new grip position.

Has anyone else had this? Im 6'2 and use a sim2 driver standard out the box, but I always find it rather long 🤔
