Hi all,

I’m a bit confused about my situation and hoping someone here has had a similar experience.

I applied for a French Schengen visa through TLScontact Washington DC via postal application, and my passport is currently with them. I recently received an email saying I need to come in to provide biometrics at the nearest TLScontact center. I‘m currently in Santa Barbara, California.

However:

  • There is no option to book a biometrics appointment in my TLS account
  • I can’t create a new appointment, because it would generate a new France-Visas reference number (and LA center already hit the max number of applications)
  • The email just says to “present yourself at the nearest TLScontact center with xxx documents"

At the same time, their website says:

So I’m really confused 😅

I’m currently in Santa Barbara (not DC), so I’m also wondering:

  • Can I just walk in at the LA center with that email?
  • Or do I absolutely need an appointment somehow (and if so… how??)

Has anyone dealt with this kind of “postal application → asked to do biometrics later” situation?

Any advice would be really appreciated 🙏
