Advice for aggressive moments

I have had my 8 week old, Ozzie, for a week now and all have been pretty smooth. He’s a puppy for sure, but nothing out of the ordinary. He is super smart and learning well.

He is my first whippet (and my first puppy in 10 years and on my own) so I wanted to see if this behavior is normal/ if there is any advice for it (also cross posting to the puppy Reddit page)

He will grab onto the hem of my pants and start placing tug of war, but he is biting down hard and will not let go for anything, I end up having to pry his mouth open and the he gets very angry and starts to bark and be snappy and whip around in an almost aggressive way. He isn’t a particularly aggressive puppy, so it’s jarring to see him get so riled up and act aggressively. The only thing I can do to calm his is pick him up (air jail). He’s done this to me twice and my young nephew once and it’s a behavior I really want to train out of him. Any advice? Is this normal for the breed?

A little late- but thank you Kate and Morgan

A few days ago, Morgan was on After Dark and Kate read out a super chat asking about Morgan and her multi-interests and what her goals were. I loved that Kate was so accepting of Morgan and all of her interests and directions. As a person with lots of interests and that “jack of all trades”/ADHD vibe, I thought that Kate’s advice was so solid and sweet: just do whatever your interested in, it’ll all come together in the end!

I needed to hear it and I’m glad that she and Morgan took this approach rather than the tired “you need to niche down” advice.

Keep up the awesome work all my fellow multi-potentiates 💖

Also shout out to Morgan from a fellow Va girlie 💖

Ozzie 💖

Meet Ozzie, my newest addition and first Whippet 💖 he is a funny, playful but mellow, VERY opinionated little cutie pie! He is super smart and adjusting well!

Any tips for a new Whippet mom on separation anxiety are welcomed because the second he’s in the crate, play pen, or if I’m on the other side of the gate- he is NOT happy and will loudly let me know…
