Has anyone had a VA flat feet (pes planus) claim where the C&P examiner gave a “less likely than not” opinion because your entrance exam noted asymptomatic pes planus, but the VA later recognized that military service aggravated the condition and granted service connection on that basis?

My entrance records noted flat feet as asymptomatic, but since service my condition has become significantly worse (pain, orthotics prescribed, limited standing/walking, functional impairment). The examiner focused on preexisting flat feet and denied direct service connection, but they did not address the aggravation portion nor did the fill it out.

I’m curious if anyone has had a similar experience where VA caught that issue and granted based on aggravation of a preexisting condition, or if you had to file a supplemental claim / appeal to get it recognized.

So I got moved to step five, and it told me that a development letter was sent to me a few days ago. What should I expect, and does anyone know what it’s for? I tried seeing if I viewed a letter online through the website, but there isn’t anything available according to the website.

I'm worried about the background check. I have a DUI from 2023, and I used marijuana in March 2025. I explained this during my interview. I rarely use weed, and it was just experimental at the time. I also had a shoplifting incident where I wasn't charged or spoke to a cop, but it still appeared on a federal background check for the BOP. So, am I disqualified or have you seen worse from others?
