Hey everyone!

If you are tired of infinite scrolling on Netflix/Prime and falling asleep before you even pick a movie, you need to try this tool I built: Movievia.

It’s completely free and gets you from "what should we watch?" to pressing play in under 2 minutes.

Why it’s better than standard streaming algorithms:

  • 🧠 Search by Vibe: Don't just search for "Action". Search for exact moods like Mindfuck, Adrenaline, Tension, or Feel-Good.
  • ⏱️ Short on time? Use the "Fast < 90m" filter for weeknights when you need to sleep soon.
  • Zero Trash: Set strict minimum ratings (powered by TMDB) so you only see actually good movies.
  • 🍿 Watch Trailers Inline: Watch the trailer directly on the site without opening new tabs.
  • 💎 The Friday Gem: A free weekly newsletter that gives you exactly ONE guaranteed 10/10 movie recommendation for the weekend.

No sign-up required to use the generator. Just pick your mood and find your movie.

👉 Try it out here: movievia.com

Let me know what you think or if you found a new favorite movie through it!

Hey r/promoteMyApp,

Like many of you, I have a serious problem with streaming decision fatigue. My partner and I used to spend almost an hour scrolling through different platforms, checking IMDB ratings, watching trailers on YouTube, and ultimately giving up.

As a builder, I wanted to solve my own problem, so I created Movievia.

It’s a web-based recommendation engine designed to get you from "what should we watch?" to actually pressing play in under 2 minutes. Instead of overwhelming users with a massive, unstructured database, I focused on guided filtering and a premium UX.

Here are the core features I implemented:

  • ⏱️ Time-Based Filtering: The "Fast < 90m" filter is for weeknights when you want a full movie experience but need to sleep soon.
  • 🧠 Mood & Vibe Matcher: Standard genres are boring. Users can search by exact vibe (Mindfuck, Adrenaline, Feel-Good, Tension) combined with specific tags (dystopia, revenge, etc.).
  • Strict Quality Control: Integrated with TMDB data, users can set strict minimum rating sliders and release decades to filter out the trash.
  • 🎬 Frictionless UX: I built the UI to feel like a snappy, native app. It features full Dark Mode, inline trailer viewing (so you don't break your flow by opening new tabs), and a one-click Watchlist.
  • 📝 Human Curation: Algorithms aren't perfect, so I also build highly specific, hand-curated lists (e.g., "Twisted Detective Thrillers") and run a "Friday Gem" newsletter that sends exactly one 10/10 movie for the weekend.

Why I'm posting here: I would absolutely love to get feedback from other creators and developers.

  1. How does the UI/UX feel on your device?
  2. Does the "Matchmaker" flow make sense to you?
  3. Are there any features or data points you feel are missing?

Thanks for your time and feedback! 🍿

Hey everyone,

Like most of you, I suffer from massive streaming decision fatigue. My partner and I used to spend 45 minutes scrolling through platforms, watching trailers, checking IMDb ratings, and eventually just falling asleep 10 minutes into a movie we didn't even really want to watch.

I wanted to fix that, so I built Movievia.

The goal was simple: Stop endless scrolling, start watching. Instead of throwing a massive database at you, I built a guided recommendation engine and focused heavily on human-curated lists.

Here is what makes it different from standard streaming algorithms:

⏱️ The "How much time do you have?" Filter: This is my favorite feature. If you only have time for a fast-paced movie under 90 minutes before bed, you can filter for exactly that.

🧠 Vibe & Mood Matching: Instead of standard genres, you pick a mood first (Mindfuck, Adrenaline, Feel-Good, or Tension) and fine-tune it with highly specific tags (like dystopia, time-travel, or revenge).

Strict Quality Control: You can set a minimum rating slider (powered by TMDB data) and filter by release decades. No more accidentally watching a 3.5/10 trash movie.

📝 Human-Curated Lists: I spend a lot of time building highly specific lists that algorithms suck at, like "15 Twisted Detective Thriller Movies" or chronological watch orders for massive cinematic universes.

💎 The Friday Gem: I added a newsletter that sends exactly one guaranteed 10/10 movie every Friday. No spam, just one solid recommendation for the weekend.

The UI is built to feel like a premium, snappy app with full Dark Mode support, inline trailer viewing (so you don't have to leave the page to check the vibe), and a quick-save watchlist. Plus, it links directly to Amazon Prime Video so you can stream with one click. It's completely free to use.

I'd absolutely love to hear your thoughts! Roast my UI, test the Matchmaker algorithm, or let me know what features you think are missing.
