Small tow video clip
Hello everyone, I live in a small town in Russia. Let me roughly describe this place — it’s quite old (around 250 years old) with a population of about 80,000 people. The town is very green, with old pre-revolutionary Russian buildings, gloomy Soviet-era panel apartment blocks, and a few modern high-rises (though honestly they don’t look that great, like they have no artistic value at all). There are parks with squirrels, ponds with ducks and turtles. There are nice, wealthy neighborhoods with good cars, and there are outskirts full of gopniks and various sketchy people (though often these areas are mixed together). There are abandoned atmospheric factories and buildings, as well as ones that are still functioning. There are also several large private housing areas — kind of like suburbs in the US, except you don’t have to drive half an hour to reach a grocery store (lol).
This summer I wanted to make a video about my town, but I still can’t fully shape the concept. I want to create something like a music video, a few minutes long. At first I thought about filming city footage and having a girl as the main model — she would pose, walk through the streets, lie on a bench, do various things — basically interact with the city while reciting a poem about herself, but from the city’s perspective. Like she is the city (its name is feminine in Russian). For example: “I was born 250 years ago,” and so on.
So the idea is to mix footage of the model, the city itself, and a recorded poem (though I’m not sure what would work better — her speaking directly to the camera or a voice-over?) with some music. Those are my thoughts for now.
P.S. As an example, I decided to share another video about a northern town where tough people live 😄
