This is the wall of my Chicago condo’s kitchen. It’s a shared wall so the drywall is double thick, 2x 5/8”. The upper cabinets were screwed into the wall at multiple points but a few definitely coincided with the metal strip.
My new uppers will hang on a rail that needs to attach to the wall a few inches above the metal strip. Do I need to tear out the upper drywall and add a new strip?
