I’m in a pickle. I currently own a Toyota with 190k miles that gets 27 mpg. I am starting a job in June that will require 40 miles of commuting a day. Gas in my state is 4.50$

The car has given me no signs of any imminent issues
If I buy the model Y My insurance would jump from 400$ every six months to 670$ every six months for me and my spouses car. I would have to pay to install a 220v outlet and was quoted 500$.

What has me considering this is the 10,000$ grant. Out the door the 28,800$ Tesla is close to 32,000$
With the grant it is 22,000$ I could sell my current car for 6-7k.

Is it best to drive this thing into the ground and hope nothing goes wrong? Or is this 10,000$ grant too good of an opportunity to pass up?
