Quite a few people in my family have rheumatoid arthritis, I think my father has it pain mostly in his feet and legs, we have an appointment in July. During a telehealth appointment with his neurologist, I noticed this on his leg, the doctor told me to take a photo so I can show it to the rheumatologist. I figured I would post it and see if anyone else ever had something like this?

I was diagnosed April of 2025. I started medication a year ago and it seems to be working. What is scaring me is the weight gain. I have always weighed 95 lbs unless I was pregnant. I am 55 years old. In the past year I have gained 17 lbs, so I am 113 lbs now, which is fine, I am 5’2” so I look “normal” now. What is scaring me is how fast I gained, plus at night especially I am having heart palpitations and my ankles swell up. Is this part of RA? I have sent a message to my rheumatologist - just waiting for a message back to see what she says. I’ve never had the heart palpitations before and it is so scary. I have heard that RA can mess with your heart too, does anyone know if that is true? Thank you for any reassurance.
